Team United LI All-Stars Practice Recap

Many kids don’t understand what goes into tryouts when it comes to evaluating talent, who and who not to cut, things of that nature. Team United Long Island Elite Head Coach, Jerry Powell took the time to explain how hard it is to make certain teams and what each athletes mindset should be. He explained to them that the chance to represent Long Island on this high of a stage is a once in a lifetime opportunity and that they need to take it serious and take no possessions off from working hard. Members of Team United Elite Long Island played full court one-on-one and they found out how hard they really need to work and to take advantage of this special opportunity that is in front of them. He discusses nepotism in basketball and life. As well as having a “MOTOR” when trying out.

Here are a group of elite players from all parts of Long Island competing to be chosen to represent Team United Long Island Elite to play The Brooklyn Nets Basketball Academy Elite Youth Tournament on Saturday, August 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park (Pier 2).
We are excited to chronicle this event for you and give you behind the scenes access to the making of this Elite team of players in the pursuit of their first All-Star experience & hopefully championship.
