Pride snaps Tribe’s Home Streak

A FLAMING HOT iLuvBBall Alum Justin Wright-Foreman scored a career-high 35 points with seven 3-pointers and 6 rebounds, as the Hofstra Pride used a 15-0 run at the end to beat William & Mary 96-82 on Thursday, handing the Tribe their first home loss this season.

Hofstra, now 14-16 & 6-11 CAA play, ended the Tribe’s 12-game home-court winning streak, which is the fifth-longest in William & Mary history and was the 14th-best active streak in the country.

Jack Whitman made a pair of foul shots for an 82-81 William & Mary lead with 3:57 to play and the Tribe never scored again. Justin had a 3-point play and layup (see CAA clip below), and Deron Powers added a layup with a minute left and Hofstra was up 89-82. William & Mary (15-13, 9-8) was 1-for-9 shooting down the stretch and missed its last six shots.

Powers scored 19 points with 5 assists and 5 rebounds, Eli Pemberton had 16 points and Rokas Gustys grabbed 15 rebounds with 8 points for Hofstra.

Justin’s 35 points were the most for a Pride player since Zeke Upshaw scored 37 at Richmond on November 19, 2013. It was also his fourth game this season of at least 30 points, tops in the CAA, which also ties a school record with Charles Jenkins who had four in 2010-11.

Justin (23.4 PPG 1st in CAA play, 17.9 PG overall) out-dueled fellow CAA Scoring Leader Daniel Dixon (22.4 PPG 2nd in CAA play, 18.5 PPG overall) who led the Tribe with 32 points and Omar Prewitt added 12 points.

Hofstra will conclude the regular season on Saturday when it travels to James Madison for a 12 p.m. contest. That game will be televised via the American Sports Network, SNY in the NYC/LI area.
